Abstract
The article provides information on the meat industry in the U.S. It is claimed that the U.S. has become a leading cattle raising country with 48,222,995 cattle raised in 1896. The Argentine Republic is considered to be the chief competitor of the U.S. in exporting meat to Great Britain. It is said that the earliest meat curing operation was beef packing.
