Abstract
This article reports on the 2006 discovery of an Etruscan tomb in Veii, Italy, a find that experts called the oldest painted tomb in the western Mediterranean. The discovery came as a result of an investigation into a ring of looters and smugglers who emptied the tomb of its contents. The richly painted walls in the structure suggested that it was the resting place of an Etruscan nobleman.
