Abstract
Baiba Krumins Grazzini was chosen to open the colloquium because NAMTA views Bergamo as the point of origin for the development of the advanced Montessori method. The research and training context in Bergamo, originally advanced by Camillo Grazzini and Mario Montessori, finds itself at the source or genesis of the adolescent work. Ms. Krumins Grazzini, as Mr. Grazzini's successor at Bergamo, sustains and authenticates the process and is now chief consultant for Project 2012. It is fitting to begin with the central positioning of the appendices to Montessori's From Childhood to Adolescence; Ms. Krumins Grazzini acknowledges that implementers sometimes expect too much from what Montessori intended as a framework, not a complete plan. Her aim is to put the #x2018;Erdkinder’ text in perspective as a point of departure for an experiment that will reveal the adolescent in the context of Montessori's whole psychology, permitting many constructive interpretations, which together willform a clearer understanding of the Third Plane of Development.
