Abstract
This article presents the results of a multicenter study conducted in Italy on the development of a risk scoring system for predicting acute pancreatitis after ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography). The study collected detailed information on sociodemographic, clinical, and endoscope-related factors from adult patients undergoing ERCP. The researchers identified several factors associated with the risk of post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP), including sex, age, position during the exam, history of acute pancreatitis, papilla status, and cannulation method. Based on these factors, a risk scoring system was developed to help clinicians stratify the risk of the procedure and inform patients. [Extracted from the article]
