Abstract
The International Society of Cell Death (ICDS) held its 29th Annual Scientific Meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, with the theme of "New Trends in Cell Death." The ICDS, founded in 1994, has hosted numerous international meetings and satellite meetings around the world to promote collaboration and scientific exchange. The meeting featured research talks and posters from international delegates representing over 10 different countries. Topics discussed included new types of cell death, non-cell death related activities of traditional cell death pathways, and the role of cell death in various fields such as developmental biology, immunology, neuroscience, and cancer biology. The meeting also included a tour of the Cradle of Humankind, a historical paleoanthropological site near Johannesburg, where delegates interacted with technicians extracting fossils. The conference concluded with sessions on cell death and disease, cell death and immunity, and mitochondrial cell death and cellular response. The next ICDS meeting will be held in Ghent, Belgium in May 2024. [Extracted from the article]
