Abstract
This article discusses the progress made in the fight against leprosy over the past 50-60 years. The introduction of effective treatments and international support has led to a significant decrease in the number of leprosy cases globally. However, there are still challenges in understanding the transmission of the disease and accurately detecting new cases. The decline in new case detection poses a threat to the elimination of leprosy, and revised targets and increased resources are needed to address this issue. Collaboration with other neglected tropical disease programs and investment in research are crucial for interrupting transmission and improving leprosy control. [Extracted from the article]
