Abstract
In July of 2023, a group of researchers claimed to have created a superconducting material called LK-99 that operates at room temperature and ambient pressure. The claims were met with skepticism from experts, but the material gained popularity on social media after a post on X (formerly Twitter) went viral. Professional scientists quickly conducted studies and shared their insights in response to the online interest. However, after failed attempts to reproduce the results and the discovery of other compounds present in LK-99 samples, it is unlikely that LK-99 is a miracle material. Despite this, the incident provided a unique opportunity for the public to witness the scientific process up close. [Extracted from the article]
