Abstract
This response article addresses a letter from Dr. Waqar Khan regarding a study titled "Assessing the association between preoperative neurocognitive status and IDH1 mutation status in high-grade gliomas." The study found that patients with IDH1-wild type high-grade gliomas had greater neurocognitive impairment, particularly in executive functions, compared to patients with IDH1-mutant gliomas. The authors agree with the suggestion for a larger sample size and multi-centered study design, but also emphasize the importance of well-designed single-center studies. They also address concerns about the potential confounding effects of corticosteroids and vascular comorbidities, providing explanations and highlighting the need for further research.
