Abstract
A clinical trial study was conducted to investigate the use of metformin ointment for treating hypertrophic and keloid scars. The study involved patients with these types of scars who were randomly assigned to receive either metformin ointment or a placebo. The results showed that the metformin-treated group had significantly lower scar scores compared to the control group, indicating a reduction in scar height, vascularity, pigmentation, and pliability. No side effects or skin allergies were observed during the study. Further research is needed to determine the appropriate timing and method of administration for metformin in scar prevention.
