Abstract
The article provides information on the role of the lysosomal system in controlling apoptosis caused by mitochondrial damage. It discusses the involvement of the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) and lysosomal activities in the degradation of defective mitochondria, highlighting the importance of the autophagy machinery and autophagy receptors in regulating this process.
