Abstract
The red arrow points to haemorrhagic necrotic omentum that was excised. gl This case represents an unusual presentation of omental evisceration via rectum by masquerading as rectal prolapse. The rate of anastomotic breakdown post Altemeier procedure is rare, 4.1%.[3] Nevertheless, this highlights the importance of regular clinical follow-up and investigation of any recurrent symptoms post repair of rectal prolapse. Omental prolapse per rectum has only been described twice in the literature highlighting the novelty of such a presentation. [Extracted from the article]
