Abstract
The article discusses an automated algorithm based on esophageal pressure (Peso) to generate and quantify muscular pressure (Pmus) for synchronous and dyssynchronous efforts in patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF). Topics discussed include the magnitude and timing of synchronous and dyssynchronous efforts in patients with AHRF under different modes of ventilation and compare them with healthy subjects.
