Abstract
The article presents an update on the outbreak of wild poliovirus (WPV) type 1 in southeastern Africa for the years 2021-2022. Topics discussed include detection of WPV1 during November 2021-December 2022, and as of April 7, 2023, routine immunization in the region, and two core acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) surveillance performance indicators.
