Abstract
The author reflects on the ethical issues in the diagnosis of infant with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) and the opportunities for treatment for physicians. Also cited are the advances in the treatment of NAS despite the lack of clear definable causes and the effects of prenatal drug exposure to the mother and child.
