Abstract
In a Spanish registry recruiting 1572 SSc patients, 118 (7.5%) cases of hepato-biliary disorders were recorded: PBC was the main cause in over the half of the cases, while autoimmune hepatitis represented 16% of this group; finally, only seven patients showed hepato-biliary abnormalities attributed to SSc itself [[6]]. However, the possible association between SSc and other autoimmune disorders prompts the inclusion of a liver examination in the periodic work-up of SSc patients, by means of ultrasound imaging of the abdomen.
