Abstract
The globulus species group of Dichotomius (Selenocopris) is revised. In total, the group comprises 10 species, of which nine were previously part of the batesi group: D. benesi Vaz-de-Mello and Nunes, 2016; D. danieli Kohlmann and Solís, 1997; D. favi Kohlmann and Solís, 1997; D. femoratus Howden and Young, 1981; D. fortepunctatus (Luederwaldt, 1923); D. gamboaensis Howden and Young, 1981; D. globulus (Felsche, 1901); D. ocellatopunctatus (Felsche, 1901); and D. rodrigoi Kohlmann and Solís, 1997. Pronotal punctation, elytral microsculpture and new characters of the male genitalia are used to improve the species diagnosis. A new Colombian species, D. berthalutzae sp. nov., is described. The name Pinotus fortepunctatus catenatus Luederwaldt 1931 is a new junior subjective synonym of D. globulus (Felsche, 1901). New characters of the endophallites are provided for D. benesi along with an identification key and distribution data for all species included in the globulus group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
