Abstract
This article presents a study on the attributional style of depressed chronic low back patients. For the study used the Attributional Style Questionnaire was used. This is to study the attributional styles of depressed and nondepressed chronic low back pain patients in order to test the Revised Learned Helplessness model's prediction of differences between the two. The sample consisted of 91 subjects, 55 male and 36 female, with a problem of persistent chronic low back patients (CLBP) of 6 or more months' duration. The original causes of their problems varied considerably, but, after 6 months, the CLBP can be considered a syndrome, rather than a symptom of the original disorder. Mean age of the sample was 39.6 years, and mean duration of disorder was 7.4 years . Subjects were recruited from patients who were attending various clinics, including community health centers and pain treatment centers, for treatment of their chronic pain, but not specifically for any psychiatric problem.
