Abstract
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Building Healthy Cities (BHC) project has worked with four Asian cities to test new models of "healthy" urban planning with these recommendations in mind. In Makassar (Indonesia), Indore (India), Da Nang (Vietnam), and Kathmandu (Nepal), BHC used a systems approach to assess and address complex challenges. Building Healthy Cities is a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under Agreement No. AID-OAA-A-17-00028, beginning September 30, 2017. To extend this spirit of collaboration to health-related activities, the BHC team in Indore and ISCDL constituted and convened the Multi-sectoral Smart Health Working Group, which reviews proposed activities related to health and social determinants of health.
