Abstract
The authors comment on a study published within the issue which assessed the contribution of substance use to self-harm and suicide (SHS) and adjusted the analyses for psychiatric co-morbidity. Topics covered include the risk posed by all types of drug use disorders to SHS, the significance of approaches that seek to prevent and regulate drug use, and the clinical implications of the study.
