Abstract
The article presents information on an assemblage, known as the Galloway Hoard, which contains early medieval objects that dates to about A.D. 900, discovered in Galloway, Scotland. The artifacts include Viking silver, Anglo-Saxon jewelry, heirlooms, religious relics and a collection of Viking Age gold objects. Topics discussed include the interest of researchers in studying the artifacts, and a brief history of the use of silver by the Vikings.
