Abstract
In the article, the author discusses the evolution and benefits of placebo effect in the development of human societies and its modern use in studying disease causation. Topics include the logic of evidence-based medicine, the factors that affect placebo and nocebo effects like social, environmental and genetic influences, and the neuro-physiological students showing the measurable physiological changes in the brain during placebo administration.
