Abstract
The present study aimed to improve the formulation of the genipin-gel dosimeter to increase its melting point. To this purpose, various concentrations of agarose were added to the genipin-gel dosimeter. This new formulation was named GENA (GENipin and Agarose) gel dosimeter. The dosimeters were exposed by a clinical compact accelerator with 0–10 Gy absorbed dose range and were read-out by a UV–Visible spectrophotometer device. Obtained results showed adding 0.5% w/w agarose to the genipin-gel formulation caused to an increase in the melting point to 29.0 ± 0.4 °C. The GENA gel dosimeter's dose sensitivity was obtained, and it was equal to (8.30 ± 0.19) × 10–3 cm −1 Gy −1. The dose–response and dose sensitivity of the GENA gel dosimeter were not significantly affected by time post-irradiation (p > 0.05). Also, the GENA gel dosimeter's radiological properties revealed that this gel dosimeter is a water-equivalent phantom material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
