Abstract
The article offers information on the Mazi Archaeological Project led by archaeologist Sylvian Fachard designed to understand the history of the contested territory between Attica and Boeotia in Greece by examining the landscape of the Mazi Plain for signs of an ancient border. Topics include the focus on the fortress at Eleutherai, one of Greece's preserved fortifications, evidence that the Boeotians built the fortifications and how Eleutherai served an important function as a customs house.
