Abstract
The impact of peer feedback on learning in general and on ESL writing in particular has been well documented in the literature, with abundant evidence of its effectiveness. It has been found that peer feedback benefits learners in many different ways, including raising their awareness of writing problems, increasing motivation and selfconfidence, and enhancing cognitive and social skills, among others. However, research findings have also shed light on different challenges that face teachers and learners in the process of peer feedback, which include focusing on form at the expense of the content, sensitivity to peers' comments, and mistrust of peers' feedback. The current article reviews the literature on the benefits of peer feedback and provides insights into associated challenges and possible solutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
