Abstract
The article aims to take the reader on a journey through what we considered to be some of the main landmarks in the history of preadolescence. Since preadolescence was understood and approached differently, depending on the nature of society and the historical period in question, we consider that it is both interesting and important to follow the evolution of this period of human life. The article is structured according to the five major eras: the very ancient era (prehistory), the ancient era (Antiquity), the medieval era (the Middle Ages), the modern era and the contemporary era. Each of these five great historical epochs contains a number of landmarks that are specific to them. Many examples from multiple societies and eras can be cited. Therefore, the selection of examples in this case was carried out both on the basis of the accuracy of the data and of the historical evidence which were the subject of the analysis of the identified sources and on the basis of the relevance of the information concerning how the chosen society relates to preadolescence.
