Abstract
The authors offer observation on aspects of solidarity that are essential to an understanding of what constitutes ethical research during a global health emergency, such as the COVID-19 outbreak. Topics discussed include solidarity as a basis for intervention in global health emergencies, how the Nuffield Council on Bioethics categorizes health emergencies, and background of the study "Solidarity and community engagement in global health research" by B. Pratt and colleagues.
