Abstract
In this article, he author discusses his ancestor, Robert Ball, kept slaves on his Kentucky plantation, including one named Robert Anderson. It mentions a book "From Slavery to Affluence: Memoirs of An Ex-Slave" by Robert Anderson which recounts deprivations and brutality endured during his captivity, including merciless beatings at the hands of the plantation mistress. It also mentions lesson that racial reconciliation is possible.
