Abstract
The authors convey their views on using cardiorespiratory fitness as an objective measure to complement the evaluation process of the global action plan on physical activity by the World Health Organization (WHO). The plan aims to attain a 15-percent reduction in the prevalence of insufficient physical activity in adolescents and adults by 2030. Facts about cardiorespiratory fitness are presented. Information on the WHO STEPwise approach to noncommunicable disease surveillance is presented.
