Abstract
The article discusses the importance of civil registration and vital statistics systems for the improvement of reproductive, maternal, child, neonatal, and adolescent health outcomes, policies and programmes Also cited are the need to strengthen government systems to achieve better health and population data for effective measurement of sustainable development goals (SDG) achievements, as well as the need for health workers to be aware of the importance of birth and death registration.
