Abstract
A total of 35 ticks were collected from a dead Bison at Gudalur, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, India. The ticks were morphologically identified asAmblyomma integrumandRhipicephalus haemaphysaloides. PCR amplification of 537 base pairmtCOX1 gene ofA. integrumwas performed and confirmed asA. integrum. The phylogenetic tree indicates the presence of a common ancestor tick between theAmblyomma integrumof Gudalur, The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, India andA. hebraeumof South Africa. This is the first report on the occurrence ofA. integrumticks onBos gaurusin Tamil Nadu (India) and molecular confirmation ofA. integrumby sequencing themtCOX1 gene. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
