Abstract
The article discusses author Thomas Merton's early Irish Poetry. Topics discussed include resonance between Buddhism and Christianity, historians and critics of Celtic culture, dialectic of fear and love that was evident in his poems, sacramental sign and instrument of the restorative, and temptation to discouragement or despair.
