Abstract
A patient is here described who had symptoms of an eating disorder, and was found to be infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Some of the disordered eating and depressive symptoms could have been consequent to infection with HIV. It thus becomes important for clinicians who evaluate patients who present with abnormal eating behaviors to consider the possibility that the symptoms may be secondary to or complicated by HIV infection, particularly in those who have known risk factors for HIV infection.
