Abstract
The authors reflect on the skills that are essential for succeeding in the health communication field. They explain the reasons why they selected the six skills, noting that they are demonstrated by early career professionals, they are applicable across the field of health communication, and they align with the core competencies by accrediting bodies. The six skills are social marketing and strategic communication principles, knowledge of research methods, and writing and editing.
