Abstract
The article focuses on the impact of climate change in the population of walruses in Arctic region. Topics discussed hypothesized mechanisms include retreat of sea ice over deep Arctic Ocean basin which forces walruses to use land-based haulouts, decline of sea ice which reduces access to prey resulting from adult female body condition, and impacts of sea ice decline on females and young animals.
