Abstract
This paper estimates an environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) for downstream river water pollution including income per capita and its square of the upstream country as explanatory variables. Economic growth in the upstream country increases pollution levels in the downstream country, suggesting stricter environmental regulations must be placed on upstream countries to prevent pollution in the downstream country.
