Abstract
The article provides an account of oracle based on Greek historians Herodotus and Thucydides. Topics discussed include consultation of fixed oracles as a well-documented feature of ancient Greek life, specialized religious institutions, discrepancy from Thucydides, and an account of oracle Zeus Naios at Dodona in north-west Greece.
