Abstract
The article presents a report on rabies which refers specifically to human rabies transmitted by dogs. Topics discussed include the needed global data on rabies to demonstrate the health and socioeconomic burden of disease, the progress of control programmes and outbreaks and reintroduction and the lack of a functional reporting mechanism due to the absence of rabies in national communicable disease plans and reporting systems.
