Abstract
The article presents the author's reflection about the experience of American Catholic author Thomas Merton of awakening to the "full meaning of lauds," early morning of June 5, 1960, which he penned in a journal entry. The author urges for the appreciation of the significance of Merton's experience and to allow Merton's metaphors to help people into a withdrawal to find themselves living together with Wisdom. Merton's reference to le point vierge from a passage in his journal is examined.
