Abstract
An essay is presented on the opposite function on the news. The author explores the book "Individualism Old and New," by John Dewey, who observes that a person needs to cultivate his own function to achieve true individuality. He mentions the lecture entitled "In Search of the Present," by Mexican poet Octavio Paz which discusses the effect of the news in announcing the existence of the world to a child.
