This mini-seminar will discuss the development, implementation and evaluation of ASSIST, an assessment software package developed at the MicroCentre to identify the literacy difficulties of adults and children. The assessment package was developed to identify specific learning difficulties before the introduction of PAL, SYNTAX PAL, SPELLER or SPEECH PAL to help establish which predictive program would be most appropriate and beneficial for each person's specific learning difficulty. ASSIST features free writing, proof-reading, spelling and dictation facilities which can be adapted and developed by the users and will be fully demonstrated along with the full range of predictive programs.
