Abstract
When teaching about diversity, intercultural awareness, and cross-cultural understanding, the best intentions often go awry. At times, instead of engaging students and expanding their understanding, these classes end up reinforcing existing stereotypes and creating resistance to the understanding of difference. This presentation looks at the reasons for this challenge, and how simple contact and awareness are not enough. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
