Abstract
The authors describe an approach to reaction modeling which consists of identifying a set of data which is structural in nature and in conducting a logical analysis of these data and the relationships between them in order to attain a clear description of the various functions (i.e., input, validation, search, output) of a specific reaction databank. It is shown how a data model may then be proposed irrespective of its subsequent use. The logical and physical schemes resulting from this model are used to express the architecture of a specific reaction data bank for integration into a chemical Data Base Management System. This methodology is illustrated on the KETO-REACT data bank in the framework of the DARC-SYNOPSYS expert system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
