Abstract
Argues that handling worldwide accessible online knowledge will result in chaos and frustration unless powerful tools are made available to navigate in large information pools. Demonstrates that classical retrieval systems are insufficient, and explains that they must be completed by hypertext-oriented search mechanisms. Describes a Bayer AG corporate project designed to provide engineers with online, up-to-date access to all the internal and external documents and software tools necessary to support the engineering process.
