Scientific current awareness in an international pharmaceutical R&D environment.

Abstract
A system to provide scientific current awareness for R&D staff at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals is described. The system is based on an innovative combination of personal bibliographic software (Pro-Cite+)--for capturing and reformatting data from different sources--and the use of a large central database run under BASIS+ text management software for duplicate removal and bulletin production. This combination has proven an effective and robust platform for the provision of the service on a multi-site, international basis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
