Abstract
In this article, the author discusses the development of a new patent document service, Chemical Patents Plus, launched by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS). This service provides easy, cost-effective access to U.S. patents on the World Wide Web. Chemical Patents Plus, part of the CAS Document Detective Service, covers all U.S. patents issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) since 1974 and incorporates a specially indexed collection of U.S. chemical patents and three-dimensional chemical structure images that can be graphically rotated for many CAS Registry Numbers.
