Promoting Effective Use of Electronic Resources in the Higher Technical Education Institutions.

Abstract
The article presents a way to identify the promotional ways adopted by the libraries of 18 National Institute of Technology (NIT) to promote effectively electronic resources. The home pages of 18 NIT were visited in August and September 2005 to determine the usage of data-driven access to electronic sources. Questionnaires were distributed to all librarians to study different variables. Also, the Descriptive Research Design was used. Results of the study showed that 18 NIT have home pages but only 89 percent have home pages for libraries. Fifty percent of these home pages link the institutes' library pages and 39 percent of the home pages link the library pages from the Facilities, Students Section and Centers and Services pages. Recommendations and suggestions were also presented.
