Abstract
Ze'ev Herzog, an archaeologist at Tel Aviv University, claims that artifacts found in Israel over the last century fail to provide evidence that much of the biblical story every happened or actually contradict it. This claim has resulted in a reluctant Israeli public grappling with what scholarship reveals about the Old Testament's version of history.
