Abstract
A commentary on an article by Michele A. Korb, Christopher Sirola, and Rebecca Climack that appeared in the Journal of College Science Teaching, March/April 2005. In the article, Korb et al. described a science course they have taught that is designed to influence elementary teacher candidates at their university. The writer contends that Korb et al. seem to connect the importance of change in teacher candidates' attitudes about science with their ability to teach it. The writer goes on to question how a greater appreciation of the discipline and the hard work it takes to be a practicing scientist enables a teacher to teach science in elementary school or teach it better.
