Abstract
The article discusses the effective means how to teach pupils solve arithmetic problems. The writer asserts that there is no other means for the child to gain abstract concepts but to help him acquire firsthand experience with concrete objects. She presents the number facts, number patterns, and the structural arithmetic as possible effective methods in concretizing arithmetic problems.
