Abstract
The article reports on the growing number of cities in the U.S. that ban the use of plastic grocery bags. These cities include Seattle, Washington, San Francisco and San Jose, California, Portland, Oregon and Brownsville, Texas. According to the article, Americans use between 70 billion and 100 billion plastic bags yearly. Some disadvantages of using plastic bags are increase dependence on oil, increase in litters and ocean pollution.
